Welcome to the website of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 3899.  This website is dedicated to the bargaining unit employees of the U.S. Department of Education, Region IX.

Local 3899 is affiliated with the American Federation of Government Employees (AFL-CIO) national labor organization.  Each of the Department's 10 regional and headquarters locals collectively comprise AFGE Council 252, which has responsibility for negotiating and bringing actions against the Department that affect employees nationally.  Local 3899 represents a diverse group consisting of civil rights attorneys, equal opportunity specialists, financial reviewers, IT specialists, and other technical, clerical and administrative positions.

Education employees face certain challenges inherent in federal employment.  The proper and most effective way to meet these challenges, is to band together, stand together and work within the law to protect our rights.
